The NC-200 Portable Traffic Analyser is a new traffic sensor technology that counts vehicles, records their speed, and determines their classification, whether they are cars, vans or larger vehicles. 

The NC-200 is typically used by road and transportation departments to perform traffic studies, with data used to determine maintenance needs or gain support for future road planning considerations.  Police services have also found applications for the NC-200 with outstanding success.  Police use the NC-200 primarily to monitor traffic on side roads and in residential areas where the use of radar enforcement is not practical.  The traffic analysers also reduce man-hours and manual car counts. 

Software Enhances Results

Highway Data Management (HDM) software is a windows-based software application that is used to program and retrieve data from the NC-200 portable unit.

HDM software correlates the traffic study and presents it in an easily interpreted report showing the results in an easy-to read chart or graph that can be presented to Council members or concerned parties directly. 

An interesting feature of the NC-200 is its ability to measure a vehicle’s speed and match that speed with a specific time of day.  This makes it useful to road planning engineers or police who wish to use the NC-200 for speed studies.
