How does it work?

Roadway work zones can impede traffic flow and reduce the predictability of driving conditions. Traffic congestion and the resulting delays through work zones are a major complaint of road users. 'Smart-Zone' is a unique technology which supports traditional work zone management and operations. The system is portable, automated, accurate and reliable. It analyses traffic flow in real-time and provides updated, accurate information and guidence to motorists.

Work zone equipment is integrated with a computer network and components include a series of traffic sensors and output display in the form of variable message signs.

The primary benefit of 'Smart-Zone' is to improve mobillity while improving safety for both the motorist and road construction workers.The system provides accurate, real-time information to road users to enable them to make informed choices.
