The PWS Weigh in motion screens traffic and captures all infringing vehicles. Speed, axle weight and gross weight are measured by two piezo sensors. The length is provided by two loops. A third piezo sensor positioned laterally makes sure the vehicle is not driving on two lanes.
Two cameras are installed in the reinforced cabinet: one identifies registration number plates, the other takes a picture of each lorry with a 3/4 profile. A permanently active infrared light source provides images day and night with the same quality, without disturbing the motorists.
These traffic data and the picture are immediately sent to the control area.
